2007-08 Facilitator Utilization Report (June 1, 2008)

94% of the facilitators who bid, and were available, had an opportunity to facilitate at least once during the 2007-08 GSB School year. 47 different facilitators bid for 58 course openings. Of the 47, 4 did not have an opportunity to facilitate at least once for various reasons a) 1- new job conflict, b) 2-cancelled class sections, and c) 1- lack of openings.

We started out the school year with 58 facilitator course bid opportunities, and 2 Developmental opportunities (Intro-t-group).  Because of low enrollment in the Spring, 3 opportunities were cut leaving 55 staffed opportunities to facilitate.

The 55 staffed opportunities were staff accordingly:

  • 3- slots were filled by visiting Austrian's in Spring 08, as decided by the faculty in the Spring of 2007.
  • 8-slots were filled by Leadership Coaches
  • 11-slots filled by participants in 2008 Group Facilitator Training Program
  • 13- slots were filled by Facilitators in Training (post GFTP, less 3x facilitated)
  • 20- slots were filled by Experienced Facilitators.

During the 2007-08 school year:

  • 49% of facilitation opportunities were filled by the 1) GFTP and 2) Facilitators in Training
  • 36% by Experienced Facilitators
  • 15% by Leadership Coaches.

Two Intro T-group workshops were staffed by 1-NTL member bid, and 2- Experienced Facilitator bids.

2007-2008 Utilization Table

Categories

  • Guest - guest Austrian Facilitators
  • LC - Stanford Leadership Coaches. This group has priority utilization because of their experience and cost savings.
  • GFTP 08 - these facilitators are part of our yearly training program.
  • FiT- Facilitators in Training includes, 1) post GFTP facilitators in their first year and 2) returning facilitators who have yet to complete two trainings post GFTP. The goal is to pair FiTs with a Leadership Coach or Experienced Facilitator.  Effective Utilization of FiTs also has a cost saving for the GSB.
  • Exp - Experienced Facilitator, any one who has facilitated more than three times and paid $3000.
  • Dev - this involves staffing Facilitator Development programs which requires an Experienced Facilitator or NTL level in order to bid for said event.
  • Cancelled - facilitators who were selected to facilitate but due to low enrollment their bid opportunity was cancelled.

Facilitators Selection Process

Active Facilitators will be given first priority in this sequence

  1. All staffing decisions are at the discretion of the Faculty member teaching the respective section. These variables will guide Faculty staffing decisions.
  2. Facilitators in Training (FiT) who have completed the GFTP within 12 months are given priority placement and pairing with a Leadership Coach or Experienced Facilitator. Each years class of interns are given an opportunity to compete a year of facilitation and training and advance to and Experience level.
  3. Returning Facilitators in Training increase their chance of placement if they have completed a Developmental Training in the last year.
  4. Stanford Leadership Coaches will have priority placement based on their scheduled availability.
  5. Experienced Facilitators (Exp) will be paired with 'Facilitators in Training' and other Experienced Facilitators according to Faculty assessment, taking into account these variables in this sequence 1) male-female teams, 2) diversity, and 3) balanced opportunity across all bids.
